International Visegrad Summer School: EURUS AGRI 2013 Food Sciences & Human Nutrition & Agribusiness & Innovation
The International Visegrad Summer School EURUS AGRI 2013 Food Sciences & Human Nutrition & Agribusiness & Innovation was organized by the Visegrad University Association as one of the activities supported within the Strategic project of the Visegrad International Fund. The second year of this very successful event took place at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovakia and partner universities from Russia at Russian State Agrarian University – MTAA, Moscow and St. Petersburg State Agrarian University, St. Petersburg in the period of June 24 – July 9, 2013.
37 students and 15 teachers from 8 countries participated in the summer school creating a truly international atmosphere. A rich variety of lectures on the topic of food quality, safety and innovations, food security, human nutrition, agribusiness and sustainability issues was offered in English and Russian. An interesting cultural programme with interactive presentations of national meals, habits and traditions was prepared during the Slovak dinner, Visegrad breakfast hosted by the SUA rector Prof. Peter Bielik was a fresh start to the whole summer school. A visit of BOKU Vienna and the Vienna sightseeing was also prepared for participating students and teachers as well as the Slovak Culinary Festival organized in Cabaj. A Russian Module, organized in the second part of the summer school was a great opportunity to all those who wanted to learn about the issues addressed during the lectures prepared by the Russian and international experts. Moreover, beautiful cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg were visited.
We are sure that the memories of the time spent together will stay with all students and teachers who joined us this year.
